Look what I can do

I have many a baby picture of me with my dad holding me this way. On Sunday he would help keep me content by standing in the back of our church and balancing me through the whole first hour. Now that I think about it, I think he would also be bouncing me at the same time... What can I can , I must have the strongest dad in the world. :)
Brad and Spencer have great technique. Spencer is great at balancing and locking his legs

Zip Line

Our neighbor Rick built a zip line off  his girls play house. They couldn't wait to tell us all about it. Poor Rick and Lisa, as if they wern't already a popular hang out for all the kids in our neighborhood. A zip line through the trees will be far to exciting to pass up.

You just might like it

Where have all the books gone? Really I should say where have all the readers gone? The more people I meet the more I realize how few people actually sit down and enjoy a good book. Why is this? As a kid I grew up in a house with parents who loved to read and made it known not by telling us but by showing us. My dad had/has books in every room, always a few open with notes in the margin and favorite passages highlighted. My mom ( an English Lit Grad and Previous English Teacher) knows how to spell every word in the dictionary. Which is why I never really learned to spell- I'll just ask mom... :)  My mom read us stories long past the age of bed time stories. But thats what made it so special. Sometimes she would read out loud to us at the bus stop. I must admit at first I was embarrassed, until I realized all the other kids were listening too. They would come sit next to my mom while she read. Reading has the power to bring  people together. The point is Im glad I learned to love and appreciate reading as a kid. So, as Harvey Mackay says "Read to expand your mind. Read for fun. Read because you are interested in something -- and read to become more interesting. You'll never waste your time if you are reading!" See you soon, Im off to read to my kiddies.

Garden Girl

Our garden is less like a garden and more like a desert. So its quite an accomplishment to get anything out of it - no matter how puny. A few real farmers have told me that if we plant in a particular area year after year the better the crop will be. So hopefully next year will be better and so on and so on. But for now, Madeline had a great time picking some of our very own carrots, tomatoes, butternut squash and lemon cucumbers. The lemon Cucumbers are my favorite. They taste a little sweeter they other varieties and look great in a big green salad.

My little Man

Rhode Island

We took a little weekend trip to RI a couple weeks ago. We stayed right across the street from the fire on the water opening ceremony, spent the day at the beach and even squeezed in a day at the zoo.
